AIEA Internship Program: 2026 Annual Conference
Location: Marriott Marquis, Washington, DC
Conference Dates: February 15–19, 2026
Application Deadline: September 15, 2025

Apply by September 15: APPLY NOW!

The AIEA Internship Program offers meaningful, hands-on experience and professional development opportunities during the AIEA Annual Conference—an event that brings together senior international education leaders from around the world for dynamic dialogue, strategy, and networking.

Interns are critical to the success of the conference and will help oversee key operational areas. Four interns will be selected to serve as a team and must demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Volunteer Recruitment & Management
Recruit local volunteers, train and manage a team of 40–50, and oversee volunteer logistics and assignments.

  • Event Logistics
Coordinate volunteer schedules, support event setup and flow, and escort high-level speakers and guests.

  • Session Monitoring
Manage logistics for 100+ sessions and workshops, including timing, room readiness, and speaker needs.

  • Technology Support
Assist audiovisual staff and speakers with laptops, presentations, and other technical logistics throughout the conference.

  • “Other Duties as Assigned”
Interns should be prepared to be flexible and have an all-hands-on-deck approach. While duties will be assigned, interns may need to jump in and support other areas in case of last-minute changes or urgent needs.

Time Commitment
  • Pre-Conference:
Participate in virtual meetings, complete brief assignments, and coordinate volunteer recruitment (November–February).

  • On-Site (February 15–19):
Be available daily from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM with scheduled breaks.

Benefits & CompensationInterns who successfully complete their responsibilities will receive:
  • $750 stipend
  • Hotel accommodations at the Marriott Marquis
  • Letter of recommendation from AIEA (upon request)
  • Access to select conference sessions (as schedule permits)
  • Exclusive networking opportunities with global leaders in international education
  • Experience in volunteer and event management within a professional conference setting

Additional Information
  • Language Requirement: English fluency required. Other languages welcome (and appreciated).
  • Eligibility: Interns must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Transportation and meals: Interns are responsible for their own travel and meals. Snacks and drinks will be provided on-site.

AIEA prepares future leaders for success in a global and diverse workplace.
Interns gain experience in volunteer management, intercultural leadership, and conference operations—valuable skills for careers in international education and beyond.
