BUILDING BRIDGES: INTERNATIONALIZATION IN A CHANGING WORLD
As the world continues to change and evolve at an unprecedented pace, the need to cultivate stronger connections and foster collaboration across borders has become increasingly vital. In this dynamic time, the AIEA 2025 conference theme "Building Bridges: Leading Internationalization in a Changing World" will be a platform to engage, discuss, and explore the opportunities and innovation in international higher education.
AIEA’s 2025 Annual Conference will be a gathering of visionary leaders, scholars, and practitioners from diverse disciplines coming together to explore the multifaceted dimensions of internationalization of higher education amidst a backdrop of global transformation. Against the backdrop of geopolitical shifts, social upheavals and technological advancements, our conference theme aims to serve as a rallying call to build bridges, embrace change and serve as a catalyst for leadership and progress.
At the heart of this theme lies the metaphorical notion of building bridges — bridges that span continents, cultures, and disciplines, facilitating the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and experiences. These bridges symbolize not only physical connections, but also intellectual and emotional bonds forged through dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding.
In Houston, conference attendees will embark on a journey of exploration and discovery, navigating the complexities and nuances of leading internationalization efforts in an ever-changing world. We hope to bring topics ranging from global partnerships and cultural competence to innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility.
Amidst stimulating discussions, interactive workshops, and engaging presentations, participants will gain insights, learn to build strategies and best practices to navigate the challenges and capitalize on the opportunities inherent in global engagement. We hope the presentations will be about the stories of triumphs and tribulations, drawing inspiration from each other's experiences and perspectives. Ultimately, the AIEA 2025 "Building Bridges: Leading Internationalization in a Changing World" transcends the confines of a mere conference theme; it embodies a collective commitment to shaping a more interconnected, inclusive, and resilient global community. We hope the sessions presented will encourage individuals and institutions alike to embrace their roles as catalysts for positive change, architects of bridges that span the vast expanse of our interconnected world. The Committee is highly interested in receiving session proposals that address broader perspectives on this year’s main conference theme as well as the sub-themes described below.
