Internationalization of Higher Education in and for a New World Recording: https://vimeo.com/698665821 Today’s world is quite different from the one we used to live in only few years ago. Major events and developments have changed our reality both at macro and micro level. The COVID-19 pandemic has been a turning point also for higher education and for internationalisation of higher education, as it disrupted the usual way of doing things and accelerated trends and transformations already in act. COVID-19 created new challenges but also new opportunities for internationalisation of higher education, but it is by no means the only phenomenon having a major impact on internationalisation. Changing geopolitics with the slowdown of globalisation, the imperative for sustainable development and the digital transformation of our societies, and higher education in particular, all play major roles in shaping internationalisation. In this new world internationalization of higher education is needed more than ever, as the challenges the world faces (climate change, food security, energy resources, pandemics) are global by nature and only a global approach can lead to the solution of these challenges.
This session will present a brief overview of how internationalization of higher education is changing in this new context and suggest ideas on how it should evolve to remain a useful tool for the betterment of society. Chair: Giorgio Marinoni 2:05 p.m. - 2:15p.m. Partner Day Wrap-Up
