Amy Conger

North Carolina State University

Amy Conger is Vice Provost for Global Engagement and a faculty member in the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy and Human Development at North Carolina State University. Her division includes institutional partnerships, education abroad, international student/scholar services and additional units that advance campus internationalization. She is a Fulbright alum and active member of AIEA and NAFSA. Conger earned her M.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her PhD from the University of Michigan.

Christina Isabelli

Gonzaga University

Christina Isabelli is Associate Provost for Global Engagement at Gonzaga University and holds a doctorate in Spanish Linguistics from the University of Texas - Austin. She authored “Motivation and Extended Interaction in the Study Abroad Context” and “Researching Second Language Acquisition in the Study Abroad Learning Environment” and has published a variety of articles on SLA in immersions contexts, identifying processes of forming social networks and how they function as contexts for language learning.​

Jamie McGowan

University of Vermont

Jamie McGowan (Executive Director/Senior International Officer) joined the University of Vermont in 2023, where she leads strategic internationalization, including overseeing study abroad and international student and scholar services. Her focus has centered on international partnership development, scholarship development, operations, and enhancements to the study abroad portfolio. Previously, McGowan worked at the University of Illinois, Tennessee, Penn State, and the Big Ten Academic Alliance. She earned Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Illinois and a B.A. from Macalester College.

Sally Mudiamu

Montana State University

Sally Strand Mudiamu, Ed.D., is Dean of Global Engagement at Montana State University, where she serves as Senior International Officer and leads the Office of International Programs. Her work advances access and student success by integrating global learning and research into MSU’s land-grant mission. Previously at Portland State University, she led initiatives including COIL, a Futures Collaboratory, and strategic partnerships in Asia. Mudiamu is active in AIEA, NAFSA, and EAIE, presenting regularly on international education and institutional transformation.
2025-26 PRESIDENTIAL MENTORS 
David L. Di Maria is Vice Provost for Global Engagement at UMBC. He regularly presents, writes and consults on critical issues impacting international education. Di Maria previously served as president of AIRC, chair of NAFSA's IEL KC and faculty for AIEA’s Leadership Academy for New SIOs. He earned a doctorate from the University of Minnesota, where he studied intercultural and international education from a p-16 perspective.

Susan Popko is Associate Provost for International Programs at Santa Clara University. She holds a doctorate in Social Justice Leadership from Santa Clara University. Popko has served on boards of directors of The Forum on Education Abroad and the Fund for Education Abroad, and advisory boards for AEF, IES, SIT, Arcadia, and FIE. She was an AIEA Neal Presidential Fellow and mentor; AIEA Senior Advisor Program mentor; and served on the AIEA Professional Development Committee.

Joanna Regulska, PhD, is the Vice Provost and Dean of Global Affairs at UC Davis, and a distinguished professor of gender, sexuality, and women’s studies. For over 30 years, she has led transformative global programs, fostered partnerships and enhanced services for students, faculty, and staff. She was awarded the First Institute of International Education SIOs of the Year Award (2019), was inducted to the National Academy of International Education (2021) and received Charles Klasek Award for Outstanding Service to the Field of International Higher Education, AIEA (2022). In 2025, AIEA awarded UC Davis the 2025 Innovative Excellence in Internationalization Award for the institution’s work institutionalizing and advancing the 2030 Agenda and the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals through the UC Davis Sustainable Development Leadership Initiative (SDLI). Her research focuses on women’s political activism and grassroots mobilization in Europe and the Caucasus.

Kalpen Trivedi is Senior Vice Provost at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Senior Advisor for Global Strategies in the UMass System President’s Office. Recognized by the PIE among the “50 Voices of North America (2023)” for his expertise in international partnerships and strategy and global operations, Trivedi’s recent distinctions include the Fulbright Fellowship (2024) and IIE’s SIO of the Year Award (2021). He is a member of AIEA’s Board and the Executive Committee of the Commission on International Initiatives of APLU.
