Member Services

"I can honestly say that I have never joined any organization or group with the immediate pay-off realized through joining AIEA. The very first correspondence from your office connected me to important opportunities and information regarding the International Education community. Membership in AIEA is essential for those in leadership positions who are serious about moving the internationalization agenda forward in higher education. Please accept my sincere admiration for the effort and contribution of AIEA in this important arena." - Dr. April Burriss, Dean, School of International Education, Endicott College

Thank you for your interest in AIEA membership! Please read on for further details about membership in AIEA:

Membership in AIEA is based on the calendar year (January to December). Current AIEA members may renew online between January and March 31. After March 31, a late fee of $40 will apply. Only members joining/renewing by March 31 will receive the JSIE journal subscription for that year. (Please note that if current member status has changed, members will need to re-apply).

SEEKING SOLUTIONS TO COMMON PROBLEMS

AIEA gives members opportunities to join forces, exchange ideas, share institutional strategies, and provide an effective voice on matters of public policy. Avenues for addressing common problems and mutual interests include:

  • Opportunities for dialogue with colleagues
  • A unified voice on specific international legislative issues
  • New approaches to international education on campus
  • An informed perspective on the development of policy on international education
  • Workshops on topics of interest to members
  • Professional meetings
  • A scholarly journal
  • A membership directory
  • Consultant referrals
  • Other timely publications (print and electronic)

Two examples are:

The Public Policy Advisory Board keeps the general membership of AIEA informed about the major issues relating to international education at the national level. lt works with the leadership of AlEA to have the organization's voice heard on matters of public policy in Congress, in the Executive Branch, and among other national educational associations.

The Professional Development Committee (formerly) Campus Administration and Programs (CAPS) , another standing committee of AIEA, identifies and describes issues in international education administration at the campus level. The Committee seeks to improve the effectiveness of international education administration by offering the membership professional development opportunities, consultant referral services, funding sources, or organization/structure models, and workshops/seminars.
